You know, today was the day that the results of my first Qualifying Examination was released and thankfully I am well on my way to becoming a fully qualified professional Inshallah. To the main point I write this right now. While this was a topic of discussion between a friend and I recently, I guess it truly only hit home when actually caring too much made me realise how true and important such an individual is in someones life....
A strong woman...
Many people, generally men and a few "old-fashioned" females, will insist that there should not be a place in society for a strong woman. But I have to disagree. It is always said that the HEAD of the household is the man and the wife is the NECK. Well, without a strong neck, how will the head be held high.
Now, I do not mean that the neck controls the head. In Islam, it is stated that the man is the head of the family (for reasons I will not get into right now). However, he together with his wife, must lead their family forward for the sake and pleasure of Allah alone. Nowhere is it stated that one controls the other. Hence, if the male is the head, then he needs to have able support or even guidance. He needs a wife that is strong enough to guide him when his brain is thinking wrong. To make him look in the right direction when he chooses to look elsewhere. To bring him on the right path, when his senses may tempt him elsewhere. A strong woman is needed for that. Not, again, to control him but to effectively work together for harmonious functioning for the rest of the family.
Now, how do we define a strong woman? Some may say a physically strong woman (I feel sorry for those meek husbands). Others may say an independent woman, the fruit of the seed planted the Women's Lib movement of earlier decades where a woman is equal to a man. A strong woman by some people is defined as one who can control her man and keep him in his place. A woman who is a "free-thinker" or " power-dresser". A woman that always wants her way. However, that is not true. It simply cannot be. Expecting a major backlash of unnecessary proportions by many people, I stand by what I say. Women can never be equal to men. There are certain aspects where a woman is superior and there are certain aspects where a man is superior. There are things that only a woman can do and there are things that only a man can do (without genetic modification of course). Women and Men were created in such a manner that they complement each other. Individually they are great, but together, they are practically perfect.
Now, back to my actual topic of this article...why my thoughts here today?
A strong woman is one who knows what she wants and is willing to fight tooth and nail to get it. First and foremost, a strong woman knows her standing and devotion towards the Almighty Himself. Anything that she does is for Him and because of Him. Any man willing to love her must be willing to accept her love for Allah. A strong woman cries, not because she is weak, but because she believes so strongly and lives her life so true that when she feels that she is wronged, it hurts her deeply. She stands firmly for what she believes in, yet is strong enough to admit when she is wrong. She loves fearlessly, feels for her close ones uncontrollably and lives life simply for those that matter most.
She is not perfect, nor is she a saint. But each and every day I spend or think about her, I cannot help but feel her hand guiding me towards the right path. With her I know that we can conquer any demon put before us. A strong woman that knows her weaknesses but never gives up on her strengths. Who is always willing to do anything, provided it is the right thing. Not the easy thing, the right thing. People say that a strong woman is difficult and hard to understand. I say that it is you that is not strong enough to handle the sheer power and overwhelming presence of such a beautiful manifestation. She was brought into our lives for a reason, and she makes you stronger. She liberates you from your own demons and brings light into your life. It has allowed me to be the individual that I am. It takes a strong woman to make a man truly become a man, and it seems like she didn't even try.
The reason she is so strong is that she is lifting you, a man, to heights that he never thought he could reach. That my dear people is a strong woman and she holds your heart, because only she is strong enough to protect it.
"Look, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person is still going to think the sun shines out your ass. That's the kind of person that's worth sticking with."- Juno
